Amgen is seeking a Specialist Network Engineer for our Tampa Office. This position will be part of a dynamic team of architects and engineers working to build the future of the Amgen Network.

The Network Operations team supports the Amgen network, including firewalls, load balancers and some remote access solutions. This team works closely with our Managed Service Provider (MSP) to support Amgen networks.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the enterprise network infrastructure, including the planning, design, and coordination of the Amgen network,
  • Monitors and responds to complex hardware and software problems utilizing a variety of hardware and software testing tools and techniques, Collaborate with Solution Architects to develop operational documentation, process guidelines, and best practices for Internal Amgen Network teams and our MSP
  • Provides network support as needed in conjunction with our MSP.
  • Studies vendor products to determine those which best meet company needs. Work with network equipment vendors, telecom carriers, network monitoring equipment/software vendors. Recommends technology solutions based on vendor capabilities and product/service offerings to ensure the network is operational, reliable, secure, and cost effective
  • Provides primary interface with vendor support service groups or provides internal analysis and support to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded network performance.
  • Responsible for complex engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities associated with one or more technical areas within the telecommunications function (such as, but not limited to, network design, engineering, implementation, or operations/user support). Engages in complex systems process analysis, design, and simulation.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree & 3 years of designing, managing, or supporting enterprise data networks

OR

Bachelor's degree & 5 years of designing, managing, or supporting enterprise data networks

OR

Associates degree & 10 years of designing, managing, or supporting enterprise data networks

OR

High school diploma/GED & 12 years of designing, managing, or supporting enterprise data networks

Preferred Qualifications
  • Pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience
  • Advanced certifications from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, F5 or ForcePoint
  • Experience in managing requirements for multi-homed Internet environment, and a large global network backbone
  • Expertise with the following technologies:
  • CISCO Router and Switches
  • Cisco ASA Firewall
  • IPSEC VPN
  • F5 GTM and LTM
  • Web proxies (ForcePoint)
