The Principal IS Automation Engineer of Cross Systems will report to the US Business Operations (USBO) IS Cross Systems Lead. This position is based at Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL. Our state-of-the-art Tampa Capability Center provides essential finance, information systems (IS), and human resources services that enable us to better pursue Amgen's mission: to serve patients.

The role will be responsible for the US Commercial's Eco-System Integration and partnering with business leaders to deliver key initiatives, core transformation projects, quarterly sales ops, Agile ceremonies, and Leadership. In this role, you will work with multiple teams across the IS commercial ecosystem to improve technology performance, achieve targets, and support strategic initiatives that are key to Amgen's future performance.

The role will provide leadership support for USBO staff in Tampa with a focus on helping teams embrace the Amgen Agile Product Model and running agile ceremonies. Using our methodology, you will drive improvement opportunities and apply the transformation process to facilitate the development, implementation, and realization of world-class IS products and software for various IS teams (eg, Patient Support Programs, Sales Operations, and Field Deployment). This position will establish communication channels and work cadence with multi-functional teams that include business users, external business partners, vendors, and cross-IS teams to balance key business initiatives, quickly resolve issues, and lead GCOIS Ecosystem changes. A strong candidate will have a deep understanding of patient engagement technologies, including web, mobile, social, and marketing campaign solutions.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Identify and build integrations and API's for IS Platform and Product teams to improve IS velocity
  • Drive advancements of automated testing based on ongoing analysis of manual testing efforts versus efforts to keep test automation current
  • Lead system assessments for system changes and enhancements by preforming code reviews and architecture mapping
  • Lead all aspects of implementation of field deployment initiatives across all the GCOIS systems for Product, Quarterly Go-live activities and Salesforce Deployments
  • Assess and bring to bear new technologies to ensure that the solutions are stable, efficient, and responsive to appropriate business needs as well as IS City plan aligned
  • Provide technical leadership to product governance and selection processes to ensure alignment with IS strategies and architectures
  • Provide technical leadership and improve solution approach for analytic data processing and utilization based on Agile standards and global standard methodologies
  • Liaise with multiple levels of leadership as well as peers to build alignment and advance initiative progress
  • Liaise closely with the other Team Leaders and staff in IS to ensure consistency when delivering software products and services
  • Generate innovative ideas and challenge the status quo
  • Act as an IS business partner, understanding business requirements, represent regional needs in the context of global products and act as a focal for support issues.
  • Ensures solutions developed across functions are aligned to enterprise architecture standards, guidelines and principles by using common technology platforms and services

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

OR

High school diploma/GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Global Commercial Pharmaceuticals, Biotech, and/or Life Sciences; Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM), CRM systems, Field Alignment Systems, Data Quality tools, knowledge of Field Incentive Compensation Process, Reporting, Web, Patient Support Programs (PSP), Marketing Cloud and Salesforce
  • Demonstrable experience/knowledge of all areas of IT (eg, DevOps, Application Development, Data Management and Cloud Infrastructure)
  • Experience in AWS, Veeva CRM/Vault, Salesforce, and 2+ years as a JIRA admin
  • Contribute to a program vision while advising and articulating program/project strategies on enabling technologies
  • Ability to tackle key product team implementation issues and demonstrate successful resolution. Be responsible for the evaluation of business and technical requirements from a senior level
  • Ability to work in a changing environment, handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced problem-solving capabilities and ability to use constraints as opportunities.
  • Working understanding and experience of Agile, Scrum, Design Thinking, and Lean Startup principles.
  • Balance all product management and services related budget and forecasting
  • Strong staff management skills and experience and focus on talent development
